Welcome to the fine art studio of artist Laura Savoy boyle.the art studio is located in the old barn loft. It overlooks the back field with a wonderful view to the west of the neighbouring rolling hills. You may even catch sight of the horses frolicking about.the studio does double duty as an art work/display area and a workshop/teaching space. It is a 3 season space, heated in the chilly months with passive solar heat from the south and west facing windows. When we need a little more warmth, the overhead heater or the little electric stove chases the chill away to keep it cosy for working.
Horses are Laura‘s first love. You can certainly tell when you view her exquisitely detailed equine fine art pieces in wood sculpture, graphite drawings and paintings.
Since 1987, Laura has developed her work in a variety of subjects and media, but it is pretty obvious that horses are her greatest inspiration!
Laura’s work is always in the ribbons.. Most recently she has competed in wood carving shows with her original equine wood sculptures . She has been pleasantly surprised to win, place or find her work honoured in the top five in many of the shows she has participated in..
”Entering competitions teaches you about the areas of your work that could use some refinement. This hopefully inspires one to get better when you put your work beside the work of your peers. Your work may be very good, but there is always room for learning and growth as an artist. I particularly have enjoyed the carving shows. The judging is based upon an objective set of criteria for the most part, and the judges who are jurying the work are top masters themselves.
they are often very willing to give you hints and pointers to encourage you to keep progressing.”
Please take a moment to enjoy the little galleries below of her work. Just a sampling of some of the work Laura does.
Custom work is always welcome. Feel free to contact Laura to create a special piece for you.
